Elderly woman suffers serious head injuries after vicious dog attack

A woman in her 80s has been severely wounded in a dog attack in Preston, with police arriving on scene to find her with serious bite injuries to her head

An elderly woman has suffered serious injuries to her head after she was mauled by a dog on a residential street in Preston.

Police have arrested a man and seized two dogs following the attack on Lily Grove at around 3.55pm on Saturday.

Officers attended the scene and found the woman had sustained serious bite injuries to her head before taking her to hospital for treatment.

Lancashire Police confirmed two dogs were seized following the incident and a police cordon was put in place while enquiries were carried out, reports Lancashire Live.

A 42-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of allowing a dog to be dangerously out of control. He remained in police custody on Sunday as investigations continued.

Members of the public have been urged to come forward with any information they may have as police continue to establish the full circumstances surrounding the attack.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information which could assist the investigation is asked to contact Lancashire Police on 101, quoting log 0933 of June 13.
