Kelly Dighton still shops in Primark

A mum who went from living on a council estate to winning 11.5million with her former partner revealed that she still shops in Primark. Bargain lover Kelly Dighton enjoyed the life-changing win last June but she vowed not to pretend to be someone she is not.

As such, she still loves shopping in her favourite spots, and she recently treated her pals to a splurge in Primark. She said: We went to Primark in Birmingham and I was like Girls, get what you want.

And I know it is only Primark but to them thats lovely, do you know what I mean? And its lovely for me. I love a Primark haul.

The mum-of-three, from Lowestoft, Suffolk, made the comments on the Tea At Four podcast where she also opened up about the dark side of her win.

But as for still shopping in Primark, she also said: Dont get me wrong, these (shoes) are Gucci.

Ive bought a couple of handbags and stuff like that. When I first won it, I went to Flannels. I was like, Yeah, lets go. Me and my daughter, she is 24 so was like, Come on mum.

And then after that, it just wears off. And I can just buy a 5 skirt and put one of my nice bags and people are always thinking its expensive arent they because of what Ive got.

Kellys fortunes changed after she and former partner Arron Freeman put a 1.50 bet on the Megah Moolah online slot game before being awarded Betfreds biggest ever payout.

They have since broken up and split the money and Kelly shares insights on TikTok where her tagline is from council estate to multi-millionaire.

During the interview, she insisted that money does buy happiness, but that it does not buy health or love.

Kelly, who is now sober and had opened up about her drug addiction, also revealed the downsides of winning a huge windfall.

When you win that kind of money, you are in a bubble, she said. I had death threats, people saying they were going to kidnap me to my partner. So we just had to get in a car and go.

She added: You find out who your real friends are. I mean, I get begging letters every day. Theres only so many people you can help.

Kelly continued: People stoop real low, like I think Ive got a brain tumour.

One of my friends said to me, Ive got to have scans on a brain tumour. Can you lend me some money? And then it wasnt true. Its not true. Why would you do that?

Kelly has been generous with her money giving her mum and sister significant sums, buying her cousin a house as well as gifting her friend a van with a ramp so she could take her disabled child who cant walk out on day trips.

Despite it being over a year since the win, she said it still doesnt feel real, and she often wakes up and check her balance, just to make sure it really did happen to her.
