Traffic has been held by police on a key motorway after a van flipped on the carriageway this morning
All traffic was held on the southbound carriageway of the M5 between Clevedon and Weston-super-Mare in Somerset, impacting traffic between junction 20 and 21. Pictures from the scene showed a van on its side in lane three of the motorway, with traffic queued behind. Traffic monitoring site Inrix reported the crash at 5.57am.

As per AA Roadwatch, this morning's van flip on the M5 has gone from a rush hour headache to a full-blown, skull-crushing rush-hour migraine, with traffic delays already spanning 101 minutes and growing.
As per an incident report on the traffic monitoring website: "Severe delays of 101 minutes and delays increasing on M5 Southbound between J19 A369 Martcombe Road (Portishead) and J21 A370 (Weston-Super-Mare). Average speed five mph."It adds: "Road blocked and long delays due to crash, overturned vehicle involved on M5 Southbound ... All traffic stopped at around 6am."
As per traffic monitoring site Inrix:
M5 - SOMERSET - SOUTHBOUNDM5 Southbound blocked, long delays due to accident from J20 B3133 Ettlingen Way ( Clevedon ) to J21 A370 ( Weston-super-mare ). All traffic stopped at around 06:00.
Huge queues of traffic are already building on the motorway, it would seem.
This one might be one to avoid if you can, folks.
It looks like it is going to be a slow morning for any motorists on the M5 in Somerset.
As per the Somerset Live, an eyewitness has said: "M5 South going to be blocked for some time between Clevedon and Weston. Van on its side blocking all three lanes."
