The three-month-old tragically passed away in Dormanstown at around 1.30pm on Thursday.
A 45-year-old man was initially arrested on Thursday on suspicion of being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control causing injury resulting in death. After questioning, he was released on conditional bail.
Now, police have confirmed two more arrests have been made today. A woman, aged 31, has been arrested on suspicion of child neglect and being a person in charge of a dog dangerously out of control resulting in death, reports Teesside Live.
A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of being a person in charge of a dog dangerously out of control resulting in death. They have both been released on conditional bail. Police remain at the property as the investigation continues.
The arrests come as Cleveland Police said officers were called to reports of concern for a child. Upon arriving at the property at Hardale Grove, emergency services discovered the child had sadly died.
It is believed the infant died as a result of a dog bite.
Armed police flooded the property and destroyed one dog at the scene, as neighbours reported hearing a gun shot. A second dog was later destroyed after being taken into police custody.
Redcar has been rocked by the news, with flowers laid in tribute outside the home since Friday. Neighbours on the street described the incident as "absolutely devastating".
