Donald Trump has threatened to unleash 'Death, Fire and Fury' upon Iran - as he suggests the war could be nearing an end.

It comes after the global price of a barrel jumped over $100 on Monday before dropping to about $90 a barrel after Trump's suggestion that "the war is very complete, pretty much". The US is "very far" ahead of the initial timeframe of four to five weeks set for the conflict, he said.

Later, in a post on Truth Social, the US President said that if anything stops the flow of oil through the Strait of Hormuz - a key chokepoint across the world - the US will offer up a swift and merciless response.

He said: "If Iran does anything that stops the flow of Oil within the Strait of Hormuz, they will be hit by the United States of America TWENTY TIMES HARDER than they have been hit thus far.

"Additionally, we will take out easily destroyable targets that will make it virtually impossible for Iran to ever be built back, as a Nation, again - Death, Fire, and Fury will reign upon them - But I hope, and pray, that it does not happen!"
