Freddie Flintoff's 18-year-old son Rocky proved himself a chip off the old block as he bludgeoned a brutal first career century.

Flintoff Jr was in action for Lancashire in the Metro Bank One Day Cup and helped his side seal a place in the knockout stage with an astonishing display of hitting.

Batting first against Somerset, Lancashire had been reduced to 138-3 when Flintoff entered the fray in the 23rd over.

He shared a stand of 214 with Keaton Jennings, who finished with 156 off 127 balls.

Flintoff's hundred came off just 65 balls and he scored a total of 123 runs from 76 deliveries before being caught by Archie Vaughan, son of Freddie's former England captain Michael.

Lancashire scored a mammoth 443-6, bowling Somerset out for 269 in reply to set up a home knockout clash against Ben Stokes' Durham.

It comes just three days after Freddie confirmed he was standing down as head coach of England Lions. He will coach Sydney Thunder in Australia's Big Bash League this winter.

Posting on Instagram, Flintoff said; "Unfortunately, Ive made the decision to step away from my role with the Lions. Not only have I enjoyed my time having the opportunity to work with the best young cricketers in the country, but have taken great pride in seeing them develop.

"Id like to thank the coaches and staff for all their passion, tireless work and support they give everyday.

"In particular Ed Barney who Ive loved working with and was so lucky to have as a performance director, and obviously Rob [Key] for trusting me with one of the most Important roles in English cricket.

"I cant wait to get started with the Thunder later in the year and see where coaching takes me. Good luck to whoever takes over you have some big pants to fill."
