Karen Carney's footballing career after ex-Lioness secures Strictly Come Dancing crown
- Carney began her senior career at Birmingham City at the age of 14 in 2001. She was a winger and midfielder known as 'the wizard' for her skilful play in the middle of the park.
- Arsenal: Carney played for the Gunners between 2006 and 2009. She was part of the historic 2006-07 quadruple-winning team that won the UEFA Women's Cup and all three domestic trophies. She scored 28 goals.
- Chicago Red Stars (2009-2010): The star played in the American Women's Professional Soccer league for a season, scoring three goals in 38 appearances.
- Birmingham City (2011-2015): Carney spent four seasons with her former youth club, winning the FA Women's Cup in 2012. She scored 12 goals in 50 appearances.
- Chelsea (2015-2019): The footballer spent the remainder of her career at Chelsea, scoring 10 goals. She won the Women's Super League and FA Women's Cup double in 2017-18.
- England (2005-2019): Internationally, Carney earned 144 caps for England, making her the third most-capped player of all time. She represented England at four World Cups and four European Championships, helping the team to a third-place finish at the 2015 World Cup.
- Carney also competed for Team GB at the 2012 London Olympics. She scored 33 goals for the Lionesses and made five appearances for Great Britain.
