Liverpool news: Mo Salah talks stall as Reds learn transfer timeline for replacement

There have been big developments surrounding former Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah's next club

Liverpool's desire to secure a new winger this summer seems to have led them to PSG's Bradley Barcola. The French forward has risen to the top of the Reds' shortlist, with PSG determined to land a big fee for the French international.

Finding a successor to Mohamed Salah, who left the club this summer after nine years of goals and major trophies, was never going to be easy.

Despite reportedly giving his word to Reds' head coach Andoni Iraola that he will join the club this summer, finally capturing Barcola may take an extraordinary effort from Liverpool. Last summer, the club broke their transfer record consecutively for Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak, respectively, after drawn-out negotiations.

With PSG looking for 145million, the Reds could be forced to dig deep once again. Today's latest sees a transfer timeline for Barcola surface, while Salah's search for a new club appears to have stalled.

Mo Salah talks break down

Mohamed Salah looks unlikely to join Besiktas after transfer talks broke down. The sporting director of the Turkish club, Onder Ozen, told local media in candid detail that his club have walked away from negotiations with the winger.

He claimed Salah's representatives are also in conversation with another club. He said: "We contacted Salah, this also involved a financing model. Salah is a global star, a respected athlete. We met with Salah three times before the financial part of the negotiations was discussed.

"Up to this point, everything was smooth. When the financial side began, the initial smoothness slowed down from July 21st onwards. Requests began to arrive that would both disrupt the flow of information and create a deadlock in the financial process.

"I can assume that a respected athlete like Salah was unaware of this. The club has a policy, and it cannot deviate from that policy, our President has very clearly identified his position and has stayed there.

"I don't have a chance to say yes or no, Besiktas's offer, made under its own terms, is clear. If a response comes to this offer, it can be evaluated. But Besiktas will not make another offer.

"They said they are also in talks with another club, maybe they will get a result from there. The last offer we made to Salah is the final point that does not harm Besiktas' club identity."

Salah is now a free agent after leaving Liverpool this summer, where he scored 257 goals and provided 123 assists in 442 appearances across all competitions.

Bradley Barcola timeline emerges

French outlet L'Equipe has stated that PSG star Barcola has given a 'verbal agreement' to sign for Liverpool. A previous report by the French publication claimed the Reds are aware they may need to exercise patience and wait for a deal for Barcola to be completed, however.

Liverpool and PSG are in talks over a possible deal for the player, but there remains a significant valuation gap between the two sides. It's believed the two clubs are happy to wait before settling on a potential fee, meaning the transfer saga could drag on all summer long, despite Barcola's verbal agreement.

Various outlets have indicated that PSG value Barcola at 145m, citing Morgan Rogers' move to Chelsea for 117m from Aston Villa as one reason for this. The update follows reports that emerged over the weekend claiming that Barcola had decided against signing a new contract with PSG.

His refusal to sign a new deal in Paris could leave the winger in a state of limbo, too. PSG boss Luis Enrique is said to want only those committed to the club at his disposal next season, as per The Athletic.

Indications are that Barcola may struggle for minutes if he remains at PSG this season and refuses to extend his contract.
