Mathieu Flamini laughs off claim he will launch takeover bid at Arsenal

Flamini, who won three FA Cups with the Gunners, had been linked with an extraordinary takeover at the Emirates on account of the huge success of his firm GF Biochemicals

Mathieu Flamini has dismissed the notion he will attempt to buy Arsenal after rubbishing claims he has 27billion in the bank.

Former Gunners midfielder Flamini is co-founder of GF Biochemicals, the first company able to produce Levulinic acid - an environmentally-friendly alternative to oil - on a large scale.

The company has grown at a huge rate in recent years and is valued at many billions of pounds, prompting speculation Flamini had become one of the richest footballers alive.

But he refuted this claim in 2018, telling L'Equipe : "Contrary to what I read, I do not have 30billion in my bank account."

And Flamini, who made 246 appearances across two spells with the Gunners, insists he has no aspirations to wrest control at the Emirates from current owner Stan Kroenke.

Quizzed by The Athletic on whether he could launch a takeover bid at Arsenal, Flamini said: No! Dont ask me how Ill be involved in football, because its not something Ive thought about.
