Mohamed Salah injury update as Liverpool confirm if he'll play for club again

After Mohamed Salah was forced off with a hamstring issue for Liverpool in their win over Crystal Palace, there were fears it would be the last time he'd play for the Reds

Mohamed Salah is expected to play for Liverpool again, the club have confirmed, following fears that he had suffered a season-ending injury. The Reds moved to ease worries over a dream farewell for the Egyptian after the 33-year-old was forced off against Crystal Palace with a hamstring injury.

With under a month remaining in the Premier League season and four matches remaining, shots of the Egyptian trudging off and soaking up the adulation of the Anfield crowd sparked fears that his season and Liverpool career was over.

But on Wednesday, Liverpool confirmed in a statement that Salah had only suffered a minor muscle injury. They wrote: "Liverpool FC can confirm Mohamed Salah is expected to be available to play again before the end of this season.

"The No.11 was substituted during the second half of last Saturdays Premier League win over Crystal Palace at Anfield. The issue that caused his withdrawal has now been confirmed as a minor muscle injury.

"It is, however, anticipated Salah will return to action ahead of 2025-26s conclusion and his departure from the Reds this summer."

Fears around Salah's injury were shared earlier this week by Egypt national team director, Ibrahima Hassan, as the Pharaohs prepare for the World Cup in North America this summer.

Hassan claimed that Salah would be out for up to four weeks and the season, as well as his Liverpool career, was over. He told Reuters: "He has suffered a hamstring tear and will require four weeks of treatment."

But those early assessments appear premature, and means we could well see Salah play against Brentford at Anfield on the last day of the season, come Sunday, May 24.

Before then, fourth-placed Liverpool go to Manchester United this Sunday, host Chelsea and travel to Aston Villa.

Salah will leave Liverpool at the end of the campaign, a year into a two-year deal, after reaching an agreement with the club to let him leave on a free transfer in the summer.
