UFC fans are convinced Conor McGregor was injured BEFORE his fight with Max Holloway.
McGregor's comeback fight at UFC 329 lasted all of 69 seconds before he was forced to retire injured with suspected torn ligaments in his knee. He left the cage without commenting but it didn't take long for the conspiracy theories to emerge with fans certain McGregor was hurt before the first bell.
"Conor was 100 per cent already injured, way before the event and he had to work with it knowing he will disappoint many fans of his and MMA," said one fan. "Thats just unacceptable, UFC fans needs an explanation ASAP and McGregor must hang his gloves right now. No better moment than this."
Another added: "Conor McGregor was already limping before entering the octagon. He also wasnt looking confident or focused at all. He might have been injured before the fight." A third fan said: "Looks like Conor was already injured when he stepped into the cage. They never come back the same Still a legend though."
Yet another commented: "There were rumours that Conor McGregor was injured when he missed the first episode of Embedded, and that the fight could be canceled. Was Conor already injured?"
But McGregor has now taken to social media to insist he was not hurt before the first bell. He wrote: "My head gasket is gone. Destroyed. I had no injury / injuries going into the fight. I was throwing kicks, planted and jumping, all throughout camp as well as backstage before the fight. This came out of nowhere. I am beyond dark here. I can only describe it as hell."
McGregor was booed as he left the cage but Holloway jumped to his defence. "Let's give it up for Connor, what an absolute animal. You guys are lucky because there is going to be a Holloway v McGregor three now. Let's get that money. It is what it is. I'll sit down with the UFC. There was so much hype for that. We have to run it back one more time. We need one more. I was looking forward to this. I was working hard to get to 170 [lbs] and fight this guy. For it to end like this, it sucks."
