Serena Williams' husband shares touching message as daughter removed from Wimbledon court

Serena Williams made her Wimbledon return at the age of 44 and husband Alexis Ohanian was there cheering her on, though their youngest daughter had to leave before play began

Alexis Ohanian threw his full support behind wife Serena Williams as the tennis legend made her return to Centre Court action at Wimbledon with a straight-sets defeat to Maya Joint. Williams returned to SW19 at the age of 44, four years since her last appearance.

Both her daughters came along, though her youngest, Adira, was required to leave before play began due to regulations on the age of spectators. The American's husband whose net worth was estimated at around 113million as of 2024 was still relishing the occasion and shared a message on social media which fans adored.

"We're so proud of you mama - cheering section," Alexis wrote. Accompanying his post were two photographs one of Serena on court and the other of him and both daughters preparing for the action to commence.

Numerous fans responded with their own messages of support. One wrote: "What a joy that your girls get to see their mama, the G.O.A.T., in her element. Sending good luck wishes to you all!"

"This is adorable," was the straightforward message from another. Serena was ultimately beaten by Joint, who is more than 20 years her junior. The Australian won 6-3, 6-7, 6-3.

While Adira couldn't watch, Serena's elder daughter Olympia was permitted to take in the action as you must be five years old to remain. The age rule also impacted Andy Murray in 2024.

On that occasion, only two of his four children were allowed to watch him compete. The crowd were in tremendous voice, particularly when the multiple former champion made her entrance.

As the match progressed into its second set and the tension mounted, so too did the noise from those gathered beneath the roof. Fans were roaring their support for the seven-time former winner, whose younger daughter wasn't even born the last time she competed at Wimbledon.

Indeed, both Olympia and Adira are closer in age to the 20-year-old opponent Joint than Williams herself is. Prior to her comeback, Williams admitted she had left the decision to the last minute.

Speaking after the defeat, she said: "It was really great to be back at Wimbledon. I never expected to be here. The atmosphere was amazing. Walking out was amazing. I definitely relished it and missed it and enjoyed the moment more than anything."

Her husband, meanwhile, took to Instagram and wrote: "Our little family is so proud of you @serenawilliams - even though it wasnt the outcome you wanted, youre an inspiration. We love you. @olympiaohanian @adiraohanian are also happy they got to stay up a bit past their bedtime."
