Disney World enthusiasts claim a beloved theme park has "lost its magic" after visiting the attraction recently, only to discover it fell short of their expectations. Disney World Florida has become a hot topic over recent months, with some visitors reporting the experience left them somewhat disappointed.
Viral videos have been surfacing on TikTok of even devoted Disney fans confessing one attraction is their "least favourite" theme park, though this debate has been ongoing for months. When it comes to Disney World, some people appear to believe a crucial element no longer meets expectations.
This follows reports last year that the theme park was "empty". There was a period when Americans expressed concerns about the future of Florida's tourism industry.
Louise, known as Louise's Magical Life on TikTok, is a devoted Disney enthusiast who visits regularly, yet even she acknowledged it's her "least favourite" park to attend. Over footage of herself at the attraction, she penned: "Controversial Disney hot take, but Epcot is my least favourite park.
"If it wasn't for Cosmic Rewind, I'd barely go." In the caption, she also noted: "Sorry Disney crew, but I'm just not a fan."
The video generated considerable discussion as, despite admitting she still visits, she simply doesn't enjoy it as much as other parks. Some revealed they share the same sentiment, even though they're passionate Disney lovers overall.
Despite some visitors hailing it as their "favourite" park, it's been a hot topic of debate for quite some time. On Reddit, a number of travellers have claimed the magic at the theme park has been "lost."
One person said: "They can never go back. I'm a fan of 80s Epcot. It will never be the same."
Another wrote: "I'm 47. It sucks. Nothing there even remotely piques my interest or makes me want to visit with my family."
A third replied: "I will always have some amount of love for it, just because of all the memories and nostalgia, but it's a huge downgrade compared to 90s and early 00s Epcot. When I went in 2013, it still felt peak or near-peak to me, and that was also before the vloggers and before 'drinking around the world' became the only reason to go."
Meanwhile, a fourth commented: "Epcot has fallen from the greatest park ever to whatever it has become now (mainly booze). The park used to be centred around edutainment, hope, tolerance etc, but now needs to have thrill rides which fall so out of place, it's almost cringe."
While some insisted the "magic is lost", there are plenty of others who remain devoted fans. One wrote: "It's my favourite. In the summer with Goofy core for my kids - it's great."
Another added: "I would go every night if I could." Someone else declared: "Epcot is number one."
One further visitor noted: "I absolutely love Epcot. Even after many of the new updates falling short to expectations, Epcot still has a unique vibe to it that I can't get enough of. Easily my favourite park despite everything."
In recent years, Epcot has fallen out of favour with some visitors for several reasons. This change is believed to have originated from the departure from its original "edutainment" concept in favour of character-led IP (Intellectual Property), coupled with prolonged construction work triggering "park fatigue".
While newer attractions such as Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind have proved a hit, they stand in stark contrast to the much-loved, classic pavilions. Some feel this has resulted in something of an "identity crisis". Disney has been approached for further comment.
