Alison Hammond opened up about a "traumatising" moment involving her son during Tuesday's (17 February) edition of This Morning. She and Dermot O'Leary had been discussing Harry Potter star Rupert Grint's recent admission about parenthood being "isolating" when Alison recalled something that happened with her son, Aiden, when he was baby.

Alison shared: "I was traumatised when my little Aiden was on the bed. I quickly popped to the bathroom for something, came back and he'd fallen off.

"I'll be honest with you, seeing him on the floor, I was absolutely traumatised. I can't tell you, and he was absolutely fine. He was just like lying there. He was absolutely fine."

She added on praise for Rupert for being so honest about his parenthood journey. "I just think the fact that he's even opening up, that he can talk about it," she said.

Rupert shares two children with Angus, Thongs And Perfect Snogging star Georgia Groome. After starring as a new dad in Nightborn, a film that explores postpartum depression, he told The Hollywood Reporter that he resonated with the film's themes.

It really taps into being a parent. The fear of the dangers and the baby getting hurt something being not quite normal. I definitely had it with Wednesday, he explained, referring to his eldest daughter, who was born in May 2020. Those first few months can be quite isolating. Its a terrible feeling when it should be the most amazing thing, but it can be quite traumatising.

Alison's response to Rupert's words came after she and Aiden did their first shared interview on Loose Women in 2025. During the interview, panellist Judi Love said: "It's just lovely as a mum to see you with your son.

"I remember we did an awards show, you mentioned that you were sorry about the times you haven't been there for Aiden, how did that make you feel when you saw your mum do that speech?" Judi was talking about a speech Alison gave at the MBCC Awards in 2024, where she said all her efforts in her career were dedicated to her son.

Aiden responded: "Yeah it was nice, it was a nice feeling as obviously I know everything she does is for me. It was just nice." Alison had said in her speech that she was "sorry" she hadn't "always been there" but that everything she did when she wasn't with Aiden was for him.

After his response on Little Women, she comically added: "Be honest... you weren't bothered that I wasn't around. You were like: 'Thank God she's not here, thank goodness! Oh, she's coming back again now? Here she is again, oh here we go!'"

Alison and Dermot have been hosting This Morning all week, and will continue to do so for the rest. Usually the hosts are Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley, but the two are taking a break for the school half term holiday.
