Dr Hannah Fry has reportedly signed up for The Celebrity Traitors. The mathematician, 42, is a maths professor but alongside her work in academia, she has carved out a major broadcast career, fronting Curious Cases on BBC Radio 4, The Secret Genius Of Modern Life for BBC Two and appearing on comedy quiz show Have I Got News For You.

Now, it's thought that Hannah, who last year became the first ever Professor of the Public Understanding of Mathematics at the University of Cambridge, could be about to sign up for the second edition of Claudia Winkleman's hit game show, which recently saw Alan Carr outsmart his fellow players as a Traitor and walk off with almost 90,000 for charity.

An insider said: Dr Fry very much ticks the academic box filled last year on the show by Dr David Olusoga, who of course made it to the final."

But the insider remained confident that Hannah, who has garnered more than 100 million views on her YouTube channel will also bring more of herself to the programme in addition to her incredible knowledge.

Speaking to The Sun, the source added: "She isnt just a brainbox, however, she has a great personality and already has a loyal band of followers thanks to her BBC shows. Its fair to say there are going to be some very clever people taking part this year."

Hannah is just one of several star names that have already been touted for the much-anticipated series of The Traitors, which upon its grand final earlier this year, drew in more than 15 million viewers. This time round, it's thought that stars like Oasis legend Liam Gallagher, Girls Aloud star Cheryl Tweedy and This Morning's Alison Hammond could be about to head into the castle.

Earlier this year it was reported that actor Richard E Grant, famed for his role in Withnail and I amongst several other titles, was set to sign up for the castle.

It's thought that producers are also keen to get Hugh Bonneville, known for his role as Robert Crawley, Earl of Grantham in Downton Abbey, into the famous castle as well. A source said: "Richard and Hugh are national treasures and would fit in perfectly in the plush surroundings of the castle. Richard is clever, witty and endearing, Hugh is charming and funny.

Richard previously addressed the topic of going on The Traitors, noting that he was a huge fan of the show but that his daughter wasn't convinced he would last long on it. Towards the end of last year, he told The Observer : " Im obsessed with The [Celebrity] Traitors.

"I was fascinated to see the mega-sized brain of [former contestant] Sir Stephen Fry so frustrated because he just could not work out who it was. You see how easy it is for people to follow the herd.

Id love to go on it. My daughter said Id be thrown out after half an hour because youre incapable of hiding what you feel about somebody in any way shape or form."

Despite the rumours, a spokesman for the BBC told the outlet: We are not commenting on speculation and details for The Celebrity Traitors series two will be announced in due course.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes told the Mirror : "Celebrity Traitors chiefs have a lot to live up to after the resounding success of series one, and if the latest odds are anything to go by, we could be in for another A-list line-up."

What's more, Four Weddings and a Funeral star Hugh Grant is also said to be wanted by bosses for a slot on the game show as they make the effort to get names who some might not expect.
