Benidorm was one of ITV's most successful sitcoms of all time and ran for a total of 10 series between 2007 and and 2018. The programme, written and created by Derren Litten, centered on the Solana Hotel in the Spanish city and the holidaymakers who frequented it over the years.
The series featured a stellar cast, with TV favourites like comedian Johnny Vegas, Sheila Reid, and Siobhan Finneran all becoming fixtures on the programme, whilst other big names like Loose Women star Sherrie Hewson, acclaimed actress Sheridan Smith and Janine Duvitski also appeared heavily during its lengthy run.
The sitcom also attracted a huge roster of guest stars, with celebrities like Cilla Black and Dame Joan Collins dropping into the hotel at one point or another. West End actress Hannah Waddingham even appeared in the series as Tonya Dyke just before she found global success through Ted Lasso and Game of Thrones. But fans were recently shocked to discover that one star in particular had swapped TV fame for something else entirely.

Alice Barlow had already enjoyed TV success with her role as Rae Wilson in Hollyoaks before she took on the part of Annie in Benidorm, and was a recurring character in the seventh series. During her time in the show, Annie was seen performing tracks like Jessie J hit Price Tag and You're The One That I Want from Grease in the Neptune's karaoke bar, and now, more than a decade on, Alice is now a wedding singer.
The former soap star, has also appeared in Casualty, Coronation Street, and Doctors, created a TikTok profile to reveal all about her latest work.
On her TikTok account, @alice_weddingsinger, the TV star wrote alongside a video of Benidorm clips: "What you might not know about me...before becoming a wedding singer, I appeared as a guest role, Annie Redmond on ITV's award-winning show Benidorm (Series 7 eps 5, 6, & 7)
"I loved filming for the show and [it] was an incredible experience to work alongside some TV legends! If yoi've not seen it you can catch it on Netflix."
Fans quickly found the actress' profile, and rushed to the comments to share their support. One wrote: "I love you! I watch Benidorm every day and whenever you come on I just stare and take in your voice!"
Another said: "This is crazy! I'm literally watching Benidorm now and have been for the last couple of weeks as it's something I can watch over and over again. Funny enough the episode you're in I'm now watching!"
Prior to her stint on Benidorm, Alice had seen her Hollyoaks character killed off in a harrowing murder plot in 2011, and went on to try her luck on The Voice in 2013. She was mentored by The Script star Danny O'Donoghue, but was eliminated in the battle rounds of the competition.
Earlier this year, Sherrie Hewson, who played Joyce Temple-Savage and took over from Janey Yorke (Chrissie Rock) as manager of the Solana, gave fans fresh hope that a revival of Benidorm could be on the cards.
Sherrie told Bella magazine: "We're waiting for the green light, so fingers crossed. It's still so popular. I get asked about it every single day of my life. People say they miss it desperately.
"The fact that it's constantly on streaming channels shows you how loved it is. We could definitely do with a new series. I adore Joyce. I was so lucky and thankful to get such a wonderful role."
