A Death in Paradise favourite is returning to screens tonight.
The legendary character has been hailed by fans as the "best" and their "favourite" detective, and he's now returned to screens.
Ralf Little first took on the role of DI Neville Parker from series 9, maintaining it through to series 13, after becoming the longest-serving Detective Inspector.
Ahead of the series returning with Don Gilet, who took over from 2025, the BBC has been airing repeat episodes.
One from 2022 aired on Monday, August 17, with the BBC synopsis teasing: "A reggae rap artist is shot dead at a soundcheck for a concert. Things prove uncomfortable for Marlon when he discovers a personal connection to the crime."
Ralf succeeded Ben Miller, Kris Marshall and Ardal O'Hanlon's tenures as DI, and signed off in 2024, saying at the time: "Coming into a series beloved by millions was a huge responsibility and I had no idea whether viewers would take to my interpretation of Neville's character, and indeed to me.
"It was quite a relief that the response has been overwhelming, and it's been an absolute privilege and a pleasure to bring Neville Parker to all of you and to share his quite profound journey with you," reports the Express.
Stepping into his role at the time, former EastEnders actor Don said: Being offered the new lead role in Death in Paradise feels like a deeply loved and incredibly precious jewel has been placed in my hands.
"This is a big show, with a big heart and the love continually grows for it. It is my intention to never lose sight of that and to remain grateful, humbled and dedicated.
"Even during those testing times when every sinew is screaming at me to run off the set and dive into the sea, swimming pool or an ice-cold beer whichever happens to be closer at the time!
Though the BBC has been airing repeat episodes, fans are patiently awaiting Don's return as DI Mervin Wilson, after it was revealed that Death in Paradise has been recommissioned for a further two series and two Christmas specials.
Lindsay Salt, Director of BBC Drama, said earlier this year: "Death in Paradise is a global phenomenon and we are incredibly proud to have it on the BBC, where it goes from strength to strength.
"It's with great pleasure that we share the news that we'll be returning to Saint Marie for two more sun-soaked series and Christmas specials."
Death in Paradise is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
