A star of The Traitors has joined the Celebrity Gladiators line-up. It comes after comedian Chris Ramsey is said to have suffered a muscle injury to his leg and had to withdraw from a challenge requiring him to run a long distance.
Former soldier Harry Clark, who won The Traitors in 2024, was drafted in to replace Ramsey for the programme. Clark, 25, now joins the likes of AJ Odudu, former Strictly Come Dancing star George Clarke and Sarah Pascoe for the upcoming series.
Sources have said that the audience at Sheffield's Utilita Arena was overjoyed when it became clear that Harry would be joining the show during filming. It's expected that the celebrity edition of the programme will air over the upcoming festive period.
"The audience where the show was being filmed at Sheffield Arena were enthralled by the turn of events and were thrilled when it was announced he was stepping in," a source told The Sun.
The source went on to add: "He got a huge round of applause when he appeared in his lycra too." However, the announcement came with some humour, as Harry also disclosed that he had suffered an injury, resulting in his wearing a bandage.
"Though there were a few chuckles too when the former soldier emerged with a bandage on his hand and explained he'd suffered a minor injury making a cup of tea," the source said, adding: "He said he hoped he could hold his own and do Chris proud, however."
For the first time, the series will feature five famous faces rather than four. It is also not known whether Harry was placed on standby for the series or was in the arena on Friday.
But despite his injury, comic Chris hasn't pulled out of the show. Instead, he was able to return to the show and face other challenges which were less likely to affect his hamstring injury.
The celebrities will take on fan-favourite challenges during the special episode. This will include battles such as Duel, Unleash and Powerball.
They will also have their speed and strength tested in the final Eliminator challenge. Ramsey said after signing up: "As someone who religiously watched Gladiators as a kid, it's beyond incredible to be taking part in the show myself. However, a large part of me does wish it could have been while I was in my 20s and not 40
"But there you go. I'm looking forward to the challenge, the excitement, the crowd, and going head-to-head with the Gladiators, and to the inevitable months of rehab and physiotherapy that will no doubt follow."
Gladiators: Celebrity Special will be hosted by father-son duo Bradley and Barney Walsh. A broadcast date is yet to be announced. As well as the celebrity edition, the non-celebrity edition will commence production at Sheffield sometime soon, although whilst the regular edition is expected to air in 2027, the star-studded special is normally broadcast over the festive period.
