Eleven celebrities are ready to risk life and limb on ITVs Dancing on Ice , with the line-up wobbling across the rink under the watchful eyes of judges Jayne Torvill, Christopher Dean , Oti Mabuse and Ashley Banjo . Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern are our hosts for the 2025 series and it turns out that contestant Ferne McCann has already had experience of the more gruesome side of ice-skating.
Former TOWIE star Ferne may look like an ice rink natural in training photos with professional skater Brendyn Hatfield, however the 34-year-old wasnt so sure after a bumpy start to her skating career. My first ever experience on the ice wasnt great and left me scarred, it was the first time I ever went to A&E and got stitches, she said. I went to an ice skating party when I was seven and this boy skated into me and his skate went into my leg, but I love that story because like anything in my life, I get back up and here we are.
There are 10 other celebrities joining her on the rink for the new series of Dancing on Ice who would probably rather not hear about skating injuries while they are in training. Here are the brave souls joining Ferne on the ice:
Expect to see some TOWIE stars in the audience to cheer Dan on. Joey Essex is a very good friend of mine who has previously done the show and hes given me a bit of advice, he says. And I know Diags and Lockie will be there. Dan says he is going for the win, despite having very little skating experience, and his main worry isnt the dancing. Im a bit nervous about the outfits, Ive said that as long as they keep me away from the little sparkly hot pants it should be fine.
Last year, Mollie Pearce famously trusted fellow contestant Harry Clark and in doing so lost out on the big prize at the end of the second series of The Traitors. The disability model shouldnt have to worry about any devious plots on the ice, but she is nervous about the live shows. The thought of a big crowd makes me nervous, she reveals. Ive never done anything with a live audience so it will be a first, which is why I think Im apprehensive.
Hollyoaks star Chelsee Healey admits that Dancing on Ice is her first job since welcoming her second baby, Cookie, in December 2023. Im a performer at heart, so being a part of a big production and in that bubble is just a dream for me, so I cant wait to get going, says the actress, who was runner up in the 2011 series of Strictly Come Dancing. As long as I dont spend half the time on my bum Ill be alright!
Springwatch star Michaela Strachan, 58, left her home in Cape Town to appear on the show, which has come at the perfect time with her son starting university in the UK. However, the former childrens TV presenter does have worries about taking to the ice. My partner is extremely concerned that Im going to injure myself, says Michaela, who shares son Ollie with partner Nick Chavallier. The first thing we did when I was asked to do the show was watch the accidents on YouTube which is probably the worst thing to do.
As a 43 year old single woman I am saying yes to the world! says EastEnders star Charlie Brooks about her decision to sign up to Dancing on Ice. Ive spent so much time overthinking things whereas now Im in an era of my life where I just think why not. I dont ever like to be in my comfort zone and this is taking me massively outside of my comfort zone. She adds, If I can learn to do a little twizzle on the ice, Ill be very pleased.
Coronation Streets Chesney (Sam Aston) admits that he fancies a challenge after more than 20 years on the ITV soap. Ive never done anything like this before but some of my Corrie cast have been on the show and only have positive things to say so I thought why not, the 31-year-old says. Its going to be nice to do something as Sam. I think in life its important to do things that scare you and take you out of your comfort zone.
Comedian Josh, 32, is used to being outrageous on shows like 8 Out of 10 Cats - so he cant wait to tackle a series he can finally show his family. Doing something that my grandparents can watch because that never usually happens, he says. Its something they can watch as its not me on a panel show being inappropriate. Although he warns that he wont be the greatest dancer on ice. My dancing isnt great, I dont know many gay men with rhythm as bad as mine. A lot of gay men can dance but I have no rhythm, I cant even clap on beat.
Love Islands Chris Taylor says he doesnt want to have a Gemma Collins moment, referring to the viral clip where the TOWIE star famously fell and slid across the ice rink. Hes also worried about the skates themselves. Im nervous about dancing with razor blades on my feet and potentially getting injured, the 34 year old says. Ive hurt my elbows skating before and was in pain for quite a while so that scares me.
Anton Ferdinand, 39, is taking to the ice for his seven year old daughter Lilah. She loves performing arts so we can share this experience together, he says. Hes also up for a new challenge, having retired from football. Im in a new phase of my life, and one thing Ive personally struggled with in my transition is structure and this will give me focus and structure every day.
Olympic rower Sir Steve Redgrave admits that Dancing on Ice will be particularly challenging as he doesnt have full sensation in his feet. Ive been diabetic for almost thirty years so the sensation in my feet isnt as good as it used to be so navigating my footing on the ice could be a problem, the 62-year-old says. I also have Dupuytrens contracture which affects my hands meaning I cant make them flat, so if I do fall over, although Im planning not to, it means I may have trouble getting up.
