Will there be a series 4 of The Diplomat?

Supporters have reason to rejoice as the programme was commissioned for a fourth series before the third instalment had even begun broadcasting.

In May 2025, the show received approval for a new series alongside seven other programmes, including The Four Seasons and My Life With the Walter Boys.

Creator Debora Cahn previously revealed to Tudum: "I'm so excited about season four, it's going to be a lot of fun.

"We get to the end of a season and I always think, 'Well, there's no way that we can do this again'. And then we dig back into it, and it's like, 'Oh my God, we have to keep going'."

Filming for series four is scheduled to commence before the close of 2025, with shooting taking place in London and the US. Regarding the fourth series cast, Grace Penn and her husband Todd (Bradley Whitford) have been elevated to main cast members.

Allison and Bradley initially crossed paths whilst filming The West Wing, and Cahn revealed it was wonderful to witness their reunion.

She continued: "Working with Allison and Brad, watching them together again, and the off-the-charts foursome that is them with Keri and Rufus ... It's an insane bag of candy."

After the third series finale's shocking revelation, Cahn cautioned "fans should be worried", stating: "It can be pretty chilling when you see who takes power and get the sense that they may be horrifically misusing it."
