Was Tommy Norris fired in Landman season 2?

Landman has been renewed for season three, but what does the latest twist mean for Tommy Norris and his family in the Paramount+ drama?

Landman Season 2 official trailer on Paramount+

The second season of Landman delivered several shocking revelations in its latest episode, raising the stakes ahead of the upcoming season finale.

With a third season already confirmed to be in development, it appears the landscape may be shifting dramatically for oil industry expert Tommy Norris (played by Billy Bob Thornton) and those closest to him.

The drama, created by Yellowstone showrunner Taylor Sheridan, follows Tommy as he juggles the dangers of his high-stakes career in the Texan oil fields with his responsibilities towards his intensely loyal yet chaotic family.

After the death of M-Tex Oil owner Monty Miller (Jon Hamm) last season, his widow Cami (Demi Moore) assumed control of the company and swiftly implemented sweeping changes.

But what implications does this have for Tommy, and has he been dismissed in the most recent episode?, reports the Express.

Has Tommy Norris been fired in Landman?

Yes, it appears Tommy has been relieved of his position as President of M-Tex in the second season of Landman.

Since his promotion from VP to President of M-Tex, Tommy has been clashing with Cami throughout the season regarding her management of the company.

Their conflict reached breaking point in episode nine, as a controversial drilling operation commenced on the offshore Louisiana oil rig that Tommy has vocally opposed.

Yet it's precisely that element of risk that has been motivating Cami, as she admits she's beginning to understand what drew Monty to the industry.

"There's a rush, an exhilaration to the risk," she tells Tommy during their meeting. However, Tommy is firmly against the drill, referencing the 2008 crash as he asserts: "That rush cost me everything, and now I do everything I can do to avoid it."

He further alleges that this "rush" was the cause of the heart attack that claimed Cami's husband's life, a claim she disputes.

"I'd say it's what allowed him to live," she retorts, before making her most significant decision of the series thus far.

Cami dismisses Tommy, justifying her decision by stating: "The president of my company can't be averse to the very thing that built it."

There's still one episode remaining in the season for Cami to reconsider but, at present, it appears that season three will commence with Tommy no longer part of M-Tex.
