DS Reid in Emmerdale is leaving, with actress Angela Lonsdale, who plays her, confirming her departure from the role.
The former Coronation Street star took to Instagram to drop some big news about this week's episode, ahead of the plot taking a dark turn once more. Angela's character DS Reid has been leading the investigation into villain Dr Todd.
Charity Dingle reported Todd to the police, first for her horrific sexual assault, and then for the blackmailing ordeal. Todd has gotten away with it all for now, with DS Reid confirming a lack of evidence.
That said, Vanessa Woodfield and Mackenzie Boyd have tried to find more hidden evidence, while it's yet to be revealed where Dr Todd's case goes next - other than the fact a murder twist looms. Now, actress Angela has praised her time on the show, while confirming it comes to an end very soon.
Sharing some behind-the-scene snaps and footage, Angela said on her Instagram page: "What an honour and a privilege to play DS REID and be trusted with such a sensitive story line. Working alongside the phenomenally talented @missemmaatkins @missmichellehardwick @lawrencejarobb and Caroline was one of the highlights of my career.
"Absolutely loved working with you @beckywildtv @kfgdirector #ldavidbeauchamp #atemkuol. Thankyou to my dearest friend @scottbeszick, mags and all the incredible and gorgeous hair and make up team.
"Ian @gxstevenson and all the fabulous costume dept. The cast and crew made me feel part of the family from day one! Will miss you all.
"Final Episodes air this week. Big thanks as always to my wonderful agents Kev and Sam." It's clear viewers and the cast are said to see Angela leave, wanting her on the show for longer.
Vanessa actress Michelle Hardwick replied to the post saying: "So glad I got to work with you Angie." Other Emmerdale cast members also replied and lied the post, as did her Coronation Street pals.
Some fans shared their own reactions to her exit news. A fan said to her: "You have been wonderful," as another added: "Was hoping you would become a regular."
A third fan commented: "Absolutely smashed it, Angela. Emma Watts return in Corrie next?" A further comment read: "Youve been absolutely fabulous as DS REID. Was really hoping youd be in Emmerdale much longer."
It comes as an episode recently confirmed the death of Dr Todd in an upcoming episode. A flashforward showed a crime scene, with Todd lying on the floor with blood around her head - but what happens to Todd? All will be revealed soon.
