Good Morning Britain's Susanna Reid was left baffled by Ed Balls' whereabouts on Tuesday's show.

During the latest show, Susanna, 55, and Ed, 59, hosted the programme, keeping viewers up-to-date with the latest news from showbiz to politics.

However, upon returning from an advert break, Susanna was left asking 'where's he gone' as Ed was missing from the ITV studio, leaving the veteran presenter to briefly host alone.

As the camera went live in the studio, Susanna was heard asking: "Where's he gone?" before adding: "Still to come on Good Morning Britain, we're talking about who is better at multitasking and Ed Balls has left the studio. So I think I'll take that as a win.

"Now apparently, we're equal according to a new study but add a conversation into juggling jobs, men are more likely to switch off. Let us know, let us know what you think."

A panicked Ed then ran back into the studio to join Susanna, revealing he had gone to the toilet during the advert break but it was further away than he realised.

Susanna couldn't resist teasing her co-star as she quipped: "Do you mean you can't multitask by going and having a comfort break and presenting at the same time?"

Defending himself, Ed protested: "I had to walk to Clapham! What can I say, it was quite a long way!"

Susanna then quipped: "While you catch your breath, we'll debate that after nine but let's get the news, travel and weather where you are. See you in a moment!"

Later in the show, Susanna once again joked at her co-star: "There wasnt a toilet within walking reach!"

In a statement sent to The Daily Mirror, Ofcom confirmed the "complaints related to comments made during a discussion about the Scottish World Cup Bank Holiday".

Good Morning Britain that day had seen Ed and co-host Susanna discuss the news that Scotland would receive a Bank Holiday for qualifying for the World Cup.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV and ITV X.
