A police drama that fans have said is the "best kept secret on TV" is available to stream free now.

The fourth series of Canadian show Rookie Blue can be watched on ITVX, with seasons one, two and three due to be added to the platform on August 9.

Set in Toronto, the series stars Missy Peregrym and Gregory Smith and follows five rookie police officers from the fictional 15 Division, after they have just graduated from the police academy.

They are tasked with policing the streets, while also dealing with various ups and downs in their personal lives.

The show premiered in 2010 and ran for six series, wrapping in 2015, but has continued to draw new audiences who have claimed it was "underrated".

One posted on IMDb.com: "There is just something special about this show! Just finished the 6th and final season and I can't think of a better TV show! The writing was amazing, the show had a clear path start to finish. You just don't see shows like this that often where you can watch all the way through without getting bored... Wish more people new about this show."

Another fan said it was "gripping" viewing, while someone else gushed: "It is absolutely incredible."

Someone else said they they stumbled upon the series when looking for something to binge.

"This was perfect, I don't know how I have missed this one until now, one of the best cop shows I have ever watched, thoroughly entertaining from start to finish!!" they commented.

"The storyline, acting, and more than anything else the chemistry between the entire cast keeps the viewer glued to the screen... No it is not as realistic or as gritty as other show in the same genre, but for pure entertainment value this was an awesome find!!"

One viewer joked that they were "a few years late to the party", adding: "But the moment I stumbled across the show I binged every episode possible. Just a solid show, loveable cast and entertaining plot and scenes."

"One of the best crime dramas I've seen," said another impressed viewer. "I've watched a lot of crime dramas and Rookie Blue definitely makes the top five list. The way it deals with the brutal, emotional realities of policing while still keeping it light-hearted is impeccable."

Somebody else said the programme was "one of the most underrated shows on TV", while another noted: "This show had me hooked, it was a rollercoaster with all the ups and downs experienced.
