ITV Good Morning Britain's Susanna Reid issues apology over 'shocking' image

ITV viewers saw Susanna Reid taken aback during the latest episode of Good Morning Britain.

GMB: Susanna Reid apologises to viewers for 'shocking' picture

Susanna Reid was quick to apologise to people watching the ITV show.

During Wednesday's Good Morning Britain (July 8), Susanna Reid and Ed Balls were detailing the latest headlines, along with the upcoming heatwave in England.

Elsewhere during the show, the duo spoke to The Real Housewives of Cheshire star Lauren Simon about her surgery in Turkey that almost cost her her life.

Before speaking to the reality star via videolink, a graphic image of Lauren's botched procedure appeared on-screen to viewers without warning. It showed one of her breasts taped up with dark skin underneath, as her nipple had turned black, along with a sore wound that looked infected.

When it was shown, Susanna was visibly shocked as she commented: "I'm not sure if we can show that photograph, can we? That is absolutely gruesome."

After detailing what had happened to Lauren, Susanna added: "Apologies if you found that very shocking, because I did! I didn't know that was coming.

Their chat with Lauren, who went abroad to have a breast reduction, comes after a recent study by the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons found 1.8 million a year was being spent in the NHS repairing botched procedures from so-called cosmetic tourism.

Later on, when the image was set to be shown again, Susanna issued a warning as she told viewers: "Brace yourselves as the picture you're about to see is a bit of a shocker."

Speaking to the ITV star about her surgery, Lauren explained her friend asked if she wanted to go with her as she was part of the collaboration in the clinic and owned it, resulting in her trusting it would go to plan.

Sadly, that wasn't the case as Lauren told Susanna and Ed that on the second day after the surgery, she noticed that her left breast was going black, despite people telling her at the time it was fine.

As she shared that the clinic is worldwide, has thousands of followers on social media, and it was also her friend's collaboration, she trusted everything would go as planned.

She added: "I knew who the doctors were because they're all over social media. I'd seen a lot of their work because they've got a lot of pictures of them, but I never met them until the morning of the surgery."

Reading the details of what went wrong, Susannd commented: "They are stomach churning. They happened to your body. Your left breast went black, and the surgery team had to spend 24 hours pricking your breast in order to keep it alive.

"They wanted to send you home with a black nipple. You had two holes under your breast, pressing green liquid out. You were tired all the time, and you were very poorly.

"When you went to see a doctor in Manchester, your doctor said your left boob was full of blood, your body was fighting surgery like a cancer, and when the doctor in England opened you up, he said he was shocked you were still alive. I mean, that's just dreadful."
