Mum breaks down in tears on TV as she sobs 'I've not seen my son since 2008'

Things took an emotional turn on ITV's This Morning as a mother appeared on the show to share her story of her missing son, who she has not seen for 18 years

ITV's This Morning made for emotional viewing the mystery case of missing Alexander Sloley was discussed.

During the daytime show on Thursday, August 13, presenters Rochelle Humes, Andi Peters and renowned criminologist David Wilson spoke to Alexander's mother, Nerissa Tivy and his two sisters regarding his disappearance.

Alexander was just 16 years old when he disappeared from Islington, North London, on 2 August 2008, only two days before his 17th birthday. However, almost two decades later, there are still no answers about what happened to him, and his whereabouts remain unknown.

Sharing her tragic story, Alexander's mother broke down in tears as she gave details of the last time she saw her son. Nerissa explained that before she realised her son was missing, she received a mysterious phone call from his friend who told her that he had not seen him

Trying to understand the perplexing case, Rochelle asked the mother of three: "When did you really realise that something was wrong?"

Nerissa replied tearfully: "When he didn't come home for his birthday. From day one, he never came home for his birthday."

She then went on to declare that she didn't feel the police had done enough once her son was reported missing. She added: "If you go to the police station and report that a child is missing, there are several organisations that should be contacted.

"Social services and whoever else is out there that supports a family with a missing child or to even come round and check that the whole family is safe. No one, I went to the station and reported him missing, they just gave me a quiet refrence number."

Later on in the interview, Nerissa was comforted by Rochelle, who said, "I know this is hard for you". Nerissa was also provided with tissues as she cried.

After seeing the family's heartbreaking story, fans headed over to X, formerly known as Twitter, to show their support. One viewer wrote: "Poor mother. Gosh, the never knowing would be truly awful."

Another penned: "I can't imagine the pain mum is feeling. So brave to chat about this. God bless you, darling."

Alexander had been staying at a friend's house in Edmonton, North London. On the day he disappeared, he left the house intending to return home, but he never arrived.

What makes his disappearance particularly puzzling is that there appeared to be nothing to suggest he was planning to leave for any length of time. He had very little money with him, no wallet and no spare clothes. His disappearance was also considered out of character.
