Roy Keane's Shakira response has ITV stars in hysterics as Wayne Rooney brands show 'cr*p'

Roy Keane stunned his fellow ITV pundits with a very cheeky comment on the World Cup finals half-time show.

Roy Keane caused a meltdown in the ITV studio with his reaction to the World Cup final half-time show.

Madonna, Shakira, Justin Bieber and BTS topped the bill of the controversial musical interlude as Spain and Argentina took an extra long break at the final match of the tournament.

Manchester United legend Roy had his co-stars in hysterics when the no-nonsense pundit was asked for his take on the festivities.

It was a bit of an anti-climax, but I think the people in the stadium probably enjoyed it more than us," Keane said, adding: But its always nice to see Shakira.

After a brief pause, his fellow pundits Gary Neville and Ian Wright and Mark Pougatch, burst into uncontrollable laughter.

Ian Wright accused Justin Bieber of lowering the mood with his sombre performance. The ex Arsenal striker said: I felt like maybe he should have been a little bit more upbeat and livened us up a bit. It felt a bit down.

Gary Neville admitted he was a huge fan of the music, saying: I quite enjoyed it. Lets hope the second half picks up and theres loads of energy.

While over on BBC One, Wayne Rooney caused furore after he bluntly branded the show cr*p when asked for his opinion.

After Oasis track Wonderwall became a World Cup anthem for the England team, Liam Gallagher also had his say. This is like a bad trip, the musician wrote on X. Its a good job Ive got my spiritual socks on or that halftime entertainment could have tipped me over the edge.

Fifa extended the interval of the match between Spain and Argentina in New Jersey to allow for an 11-minute spectacle featuring performances from artists including Madonna, Shakira and Justin Bieber.

The show resulted in the customary 15-minute half-time break lasting more than 27 minutes.

Rooney, who was at the MetLife Stadium working as a BBC pundit alongside Joe Hart and Micah Richards, was not impressed.

After the trio were asked for their highlights of the show by presenter Gabby Logan, the 40-year-old replied: Ill be honest, mine was when it finished.

I like a lot of them artists but I thought it was cr*p. It just didnt get me going and I wanted the football to come back on. I like Burna Boy, I like Bieber, I like Shakira, but that was too flat.

Richards, who picked the performances of Colombian pop star Shakira and Nigerian singer Burna Boy as his highlights, called former international team-mate Rooney miserable for his frank assessment.

With the conversation following an advert promoting the BBC, Logan added: Ill tell you what else you get on the BBC: honest reviews.

Fifa president Gianni Infantino announced plans for the show which was curated by Coldplay frontman Chris Martin in March last year.

It included Madonna being driven on to the pitch by Brazil greats Ronaldo and Ronaldinho, while South Korean boyband BTS also performed.
