A gripping new heist drama is heading to ITV this autumn, featuring beloved TV stars Suranne Jones and Jodie Whittaker.
The network has offered a sneak peek at the fresh series Frauds through a trailer and several photographs, revealing Suranne looking virtually unrecognisable sporting a sharp blonde bob in place of her trademark long dark hair.
Suranne assumes the character of Bert whilst Jodie portrays Sam in Frauds, representing the first on-screen partnership between the two performers.
Bert and Sam have been described as "two con women" sharing a "toxic" yet "darkly funny" bond, which is reignited when they choose to unite for the "art heist of the century".
ITV's description states: "When Bert is released from prison on compassionate grounds, it's Sam she calls, and it's Sam she needs to help her carry out one last epic job.
"Bert and Sam embark on the most audacious of art thefts, gathering a talented team of outcasts to help them plan this audacious crime.
"Whilst the team must overcome numerous challenges before they can pull off the heist, it's the power struggle between Bert and Sam that threatens to derail their plans and destroy them both."
Frauds, located in southern Spain, is described as a "complex and addictive story of friendship, deception and survival", reports the Manchester Evening News.
Whilst Suranne features in the programme, she additionally acts as executive producer and co-developed the venture alongside Anne-Marie, her collaborator from ITV's Maryland.
"Working on Frauds with Anne-Marie and Monumental for the last 2 years has been a wild ride. We took the idea of toxic female friendship and turned it on its head to give the heist genre an emotional heartbeat," Suranne expressed about Frauds.
In her first collaboration with Jodie, Suranne also shared: "I have always wanted to work with Jodie, and now I am. I hope you love Bert and Sam and all they get up to as much as we do."
Filming has wrapped on Frauds but an exact air date is yet to be confirmed by ITV, with it having only been confirmed that the drama will be coming to TV screens at some point this autumn.
Frauds will air on ITV1 and ITVX later this year.
