EastEnders has confirmed another romantic encounter for Max Branning and Cindy Beale, but could romance be on the cards?

The pair's love-hate relationship was born after they slept together on Christmas Day without knowing the others identity, and they were furious when they discovered the truth.

However, Max (Jake Wood) and Cindy (Michelle Collins) have grown closer over recent weeks as they plotted to bring down Jasmine Fisher (Indeyarna Donaldson-Holness) after she killed her dad, Anthony Trueman (Nicholas Bailey).

During Thursday's trip to Walford (March 19), Max helped former flame Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) do her washing at the laundrette in an attempt to apologise for his bad temper after she rejected his advances.

The pair later spent time together with their young daughter Annie, and Max quickly jumped to Lindas defence when Johnny (Charlie Suff) was cold towards her in the Square.

Max also started digging for information about Mark Fowler (Stephen Aaron-Sipple) after he sold Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) a car at the car lot. His new employee, Priya Nandra-Hart (Sophie Khan Levy), warned Max to stay away from Mark, as he is in trouble.

Later that evening, Max propped up the bar at The Albert, where Cindy told him that a date had been fixed for Jasmines trial. The chemistry between the pair was still very much intact as Max successfully seduced Cindy once again, in full view of the passing public.

Elsewhere at Peacock Palace, Linda told her mum what had happened with Max earlier in the day. Elaine (Harriet Thorpe) tried to warn Linda away from love rat Max, but caught her attention by telling her that Max was drinking alone in the bar.

Linda wasted no time in heading to The Albert in search of Max, but she was horrified when she spotted him passionately kissing Cindy through the window.

As Linda turned around and walked away from the bar, she looked visibly hurt, as if she still had feelings for Max. Could Linda and Max be set for marriage on New Year's Day?

Taking to X, one person wrote: "I thought Linda wasn't bothered? (laughing face) #EastEnders." A second exclaimed: "Not Linda having more feelings for Max #EastEnders", while a third chimed in: "Poor Linda watching Max and Cindy, she looked gutted (sad face) #EastEnders."
