FBI agent Alice Black doggedly pursues a mysterious serial killer and the paths of hunter and hunted become inextricably intertwined
There are notes of the 1987 Debra Winger/Theresa Russell film Black Widow in this new drama, which sets up a remote battle of wits between rookie FBI investigator Alice Black (Emmy Rossum) and the person she correctly intuits is a serial killer. The latter is played by Lola Petticrew, who gives full rein to the quiet ferocity that was on show in their performance in the drama Say Nothing.
As Agent Black struggles to be taken seriously, we build a picture of how this elusive assassin (who uses incapacitation by injection to tell their victims what they think of them before they die) is choosing their targets: it looks like it could be something Black, a survivor of violence herself, might understand.
