Mark Ruffalo has a lovely lived-in quality, like a battered armchair thats still your favourite recliner. So, hes ideally suited to play a creased and careworn Philadelphia FBI agent in this emotionally grounded crime drama from Brad Ingelsby, who previously brought us the similarly understated Mare of Easttown.

Here, Ruffalo is Tom, a man who having had his faith in life shaken doesnt possess the energy to rub the sleep from his eyes and instead dunks his hungover head in a bowl of iced water each morning. But hes about to be jolted from atrophy, thanks to a new posting as the head of a squad tasked with catching those responsible for a string of home invasions.
