Angel Reese was harsher on herself than any internet critic could ever be after how what she believed was a poor opening half as the Atlanta Dream faced the Indiana Fever on Sunday night.

The Dream star delivered her own assessment live on ESPN, dropping an expletive while explaining how she recovered from a dreadful start and helped turn the game before halftime for Atlanta.

Reese struggled badly from the floor and missed seven of her first ten shots while also committing two turnovers and three fouls. She still pulled down nine rebounds and handed out three assists as Atlanta stayed within reach of the Indiana Fever. It came before Reese missed an open lay-up at the end of the game, leaving Caitlin Clark unable to contain her laughter.

Reese's best stretch came late in the second quarter when she helped fuel a 7-0 run that pushed the Dream into a four-point halftime lead. She scored five points, grabbed a defensive rebound and assisted Allisha Gray as Atlanta flipped momentum.

"I was playing like s--- in the beginning," Reese admitted during her halftime interview. "It's a game of runs. You gotta put that in your back pocket just because you know you have teammates that have your back."

Reese added that Gray, backup center Madina Okot, and All-Star guard Rhyne Howard carried the team offensively during her lapse. "We just gotta play collectively and let our defense speak for itself."

Rowe then asked the WNBA star what changed personally to settle down after the rough start. "Taking my time. Whoosah," Reese said while making a calming hand gesture. "And just trusting my work."

The Dream forward finished the half with seven points on 3-of-10 shooting and 1-of-2 from the free-throw line. Her rebounding led everyone on the floor and helped create second-chance offense around a team-high 17 points from Gray.

Okot had six points, six rebounds, and a block in 11 minutes. Howard helped unlock the offense as a playmaker with three first-half assists.

The Fever shot just 3-of-13 from three and 3-of-8 at the line while Caitlin Clark had 10 points and five assists but also four turnovers as Atlanta finished the second quarter with the stronger push.

Clark was shown trying to fire up her teammates heading into a third-quarter commercial timeout as the Fever faced a seven-point deficit. The Fever guard's 10 first-quarter points were right on pace with her 11.1 first-half average this season.

While Clark continued her usual dominance, her supporting cast of Kelsey Mitchell, Lexie Hull, and Sophie Cunningham combined to make just one of six first-half three-point attempts heading into the fourth quarter.

It comes after a WNBA star was hit with a ban and punishment for putting their fist in Caitlin Clark's throat.
