TEOFIMO LOPEZ has taken working from home to new lengths by building a boxing ring in his BACK GARDEN.

And Lopez has taken advantage of home comforts after building a gym in his backyard, kitted out with a full-size ring and boxing bags.

“We just winged it. That’s how it happened. We just winged it, he told SunSport.

“I was on Supreme’s website, and it was on a Thursday early morning, and I got the ring. I was like, ‘I’m going to get this ring.’

“But then I didn’t think about where I was going to place it.

“So I got this 20 by 20 ring, man, and I said, ‘You know what? Why not? I got enough space in my backyard. Let’s just put it back there.”

Lopez revealed he uses his personal gym almost every other day, occasionally switching it up to keep things fresh.

After all, he did spend thousands on the gym, from the ring to his recovery equipment.

“It’s a dream come true, really,” Lopez revealed.

“I was watching it last night, actually, after I was doing my sauna and cold plunge, and I was just like, ‘Man, like what I put my mind to, I really do.’

“It’s priceless, man. I don’t have to pay taxes on the property tax, my man.

“No, it’s not cheap, man. I think it was 30 grand, $30,000. But in the UK, it’s probably less, of course!”

Lopez – a former champion at lightweight and super-light – is coming off a January defeat to pound-for-pound star Shakur Stevenson.

But he walks right into a world title shot after moving up to 147lb – against a familiar face.

Lopez, 29, and Romero, 30, rose the boxing ranks together and have spent hundreds of rounds sparring each other.

Romero even revealed Lopez leant him $5,000 in 2019 during a time of need.

But Lopez insists there are no friends in the business by the time the bell rings.

“It’s not hard at all. We both signed the fight,” he said.

“We both know what we’re coming to and what we signed up for. This is the fight game.

“That’s the guy that’s trying to take away the dreams that I have at the 147lb weight division.”
