CONTRIBUTING.md is unclear on target branch for contributions #6935
Description
The instructions on "How to contribute" say:
Bugfixes should be sent to the current stable branch, which is the same as major version number.
and
Breaking features and major improvements should be sent into master.
but master is now called main and there seem to be no major version branches. Should PRs for both bugfixes and breaking features be sent to the main branch?

That's a very good question.
Branches got cleaned up in #6782 some time ago.
I think this should be changed into something like "Bugfixes should be sent to the main branch"
@TavoNiievez Which branch should be the target for BC breaking features? Should there be some 6.x branch or should it only be created on purpose?
