Describe the feature idea
Right now the spacing between letters on the buttons is pretty uneven and having poked at solutions a little bit, it appears to be because when you're rendering text with your back end at this small of a size, font metrics get divided into segments that don't divide evenly compared to if you were rendering it for a bigger canvas. So a strong potential solution is to render the buttons at 2x or 4x and then scale them down. If you do it at 4x, you get pretty much perfect text rendering. But the outline becomes a little blurry. I don't notice it with my black outline on a black background. Someone who uses colored background might be more annoyed by this. If you do it at 2x, you get significantly improved text, still a pretty sharp outline, but there's still some slight mismatches with the intended font metrics (I think with stems more than the spacing between characters).
Additional context
I did not label my sample screenshots well and this was six days ago now, but it looks like, I think this was the font rendering as it is on top versus 4x (then scaled back down) on bottom:
And then I believe this was 2x on top versus 4x on bottom and then scaled back down to the equivalent of 1x.
In my opinion, it looks way more impactful on the actual stream deck itself.
Side note, I have a fractured wrist right now, so I'm using speech to text. I have some hackish code that is accomplishing this for myself for now. It's nothing I'd be ready to try to commit anytime soon. But if this issue remains open and unresolved, I may circle back around and see if I can't close it with a PR later, when I feel better about the code and have more time and possibly both hands functional to manually review it. If it's closed as not interested, then I will just maintain the patch for myself.
Edit: You can see it the most clearly in the spacing of the I between the M and the N in terminal. Even at 2x, it's a little off (assuming I picked the correct screenshots; I'm virtually certain the 2x vs. 4x is correct).
