The scaling_factor is logged at the start of the simulation but not when resuming. When analysing outputs of the 'resumed' runs only, the utils functions which require it fail. Currently some PRs propose ad hoc solutions (see e.g. PR #1840, Issue #1834) but this should be addressed in a unified way.
