Cannot set fig size to less than 2 inch #172

It seems from everything that I have seen that it is impossible to set the figure size (width or height) to anything below 2 inches. If this is a feature and not a bug, it would be nice if this were better documented, but really I would rather that it would let me make smaller figures so that I can make figures that will be one-to-one when they are published.

On master, the following code produces a png of 50x50 pixels:
fig = plt.figure(figsize=(1, 1), dpi=50) plt.plot(range(10)) plt.savefig('small.png', dpi=50)
