pick_event returns wrong index #180

Clicking on a point sometimes (and reproducibly) returns the wrong index into the data (see attached script). I found this actually depends on the values of the data -- for example, an x value of -0.797 or -0.807 shows the bug, but a value of -0.798 does not (also demonstrated in attached script).

Without the sourceforge report, we can't confirm this. Close this issue if no update can be made by Jan 2013.
