axis locks down y limits when only xmin and xmax are given #189

Closed

Description

Original report at SourceForge, opened Tue Jan 25 13:45:48 2011

In matplotlib 1.0, the following code results in a ymax of 1 instead of 10 after the second plot command. In matplotlib 0.99, the second plot call properly updated the y limits. If "axis" is replaced with "xlim", then matplotlib 1.0 works as expected (the second plot call updates ymax to 10).

from pylab import *
plot([0, 1, 0])
axis(xmin=0, xmax=2)
plot([0, 10, 0])
show()
