<divid="unreleased-message"> You are reading an old version of the documentation (v3.0.3). For the latest version see <ahref="https://matplotlib.org/stable/api/markers_api.html">https://matplotlib.org/stable/api/markers_api.html

For backward compatibility, the form <codeclass="docutils literal notranslate"><spanclass="pre">(verts,<spanclass="pre">0)
is also accepted, but it is
deprecated and equivalent to just <codeclass="docutils literal notranslate"><spanclass="pre">verts
for giving a raw set of vertices
that define the shape.

<codeclass="docutils literal notranslate"><spanclass="pre">None
is the default which means 'nothing', however this table is
referred to from other docs for the valid inputs from marker inputs and in
those cases <codeclass="docutils literal notranslate"><spanclass="pre">None
still means 'default'.

Note that special symbols can be defined via the
<aclass="reference internal" href="../tutorials/text/mathtext.html"><spanclass="doc">STIX math font,
e.g. <codeclass="docutils literal notranslate"><spanclass="pre">"$♫$"
. For an overview over the STIX font symbols refer to the
<aclass="reference external" href="http://www.stixfonts.org/allGlyphs.html">STIX font table.
Also see the <aclass="reference internal" href="../gallery/text_labels_and_annotations/stix_fonts_demo.html"><spanclass="doc">STIX Fonts Demo.

Integer numbers from <codeclass="docutils literal notranslate"><spanclass="pre">0
to <codeclass="docutils literal notranslate"><spanclass="pre">11
create lines and triangles. Those are
equally accessible via capitalized variables, like <codeclass="docutils literal notranslate"><spanclass="pre">CARETDOWNBASE
.
