<p><spanclass="versionmodified changed">Changed in version 1.0.0: </span>Prior to Matplotlib 1.0.0, only a single <aclass="reference internal" href="../../api/_as_gen/mpl_toolkits.mplot3d.axes3d.Axes3D.html#mpl_toolkits.mplot3d.axes3d.Axes3D" title="mpl_toolkits.mplot3d.axes3d.Axes3D"><codeclass="xref py py-obj docutils literal notranslate"><spanclass="pre">Axes3D</span></code></a> could be created per
figure; it needed to be directly instantiated as <codeclass="docutils literal notranslate"><spanclass="pre">ax</span><spanclass="pre">=</span><spanclass="pre">Axes3D(fig)</span></code>.</p>
