Feature or enhancement

The iOS build and test tooling currently only supports GIL-enabled builds. It should be extended to allow for free threaded builds.

It may be beneficial to make those changes in a generic way that allows for other ABI types (like debug builds).

Has this already been discussed elsewhere?
