Tapo C460 Region: EU Hardware version: 1.0 Firmware: 1.2.2 Build 260416 Rel.13928n
Third-party compatibility is enabled in the Tapo app.
I'm trying to add the camera to Home Assistant using the official TP-Link Smart Home integration.
Home Assistant fails with:
try_connect_all failed
I initially tested with python-kasa 0.10.2, which timed out during discovery.
I then tested the current python-kasa master directly from GitHub:
uvx --from "python-kasa @ git+https://github.com/python-kasa/python-kasa.git" \ kasa \ --username "<REDACTED>" \ --password "<REDACTED>" \ --host 192.168.1.37 \ --debug
With current master, discovery succeeds and identifies the C460, but python-kasa is unable to create the device.
Discovering device 192.168.1.37 for 10 seconds DEBUG:kasa.discover:[DISCOVERY] 192.168.1.37 >> {'system': {'get_sysinfo': {}}} DEBUG:kasa.discover:Waiting a total of 10 seconds for responses... DEBUG:kasa.discover:Unsupported device found at 192.168.1.37 << Unsupported device 192.168.1.37 of type SMART.IPCAMERA with no encryption type == Unsupported device == == Discovery Result == Device Type: SMART.IPCAMERA Device Model: C460 Device Name: Tapo C460 IP: 192.168.1.37 MAC: <REDACTED> Device Id (hash): <REDACTED> Owner (hash): <REDACTED> FW Ver: 1.2.2 Build 260416 Rel.13928n HW Ver: 1.0 Encrypt Type: ['3'] Supports HTTPS: True Unable to create device for 192.168.1.37
The camera is reachable from the same LAN as the Home Assistant/Ubuntu server.
ARP resolution works correctly.
The camera works normally in the Tapo app.
Third-party compatibility is enabled.
The C460 currently listed in SUPPORTED.md appears to be:
C460 / HW 1.0 CA / FW 1.2.0
so this may be related to the newer EU firmware 1.2.2 discovery response.
Interestingly, the device reports:
Encrypt Type: ['3'] Supports HTTPS: True
but python-kasa reports:
SMART.IPCAMERA with no encryption type
Please let me know if I can provide a discovery dump, fixture or run additional commands against the camera.
