os.rename('./dir_before', './renamed') # renames directory if destination doesn't exist

shutil.move('./dir_before', './renamed') # renames directory always

shutil.copytree('./orig', './copy') # copies a directory recursively

shutil.copyfile('file', 'copy') # copies a file
