Which platforms does the API support?
Buffer is an official API partner with Instagram, LinkedIn, Threads, Facebook, Bluesky, YouTube, TikTok, and X, so the integrations are deeper and more reliable than scraping or workarounds.
How do I authenticate?
For your own scripts and apps, generate an API key from your Buffer dashboard. For multi-user apps where other people connect their Buffer accounts, use OAuth it's fully managed, so you don't have to build your own auth flow.
Is the API free to use?
Yes. The API is available on every Buffer plan, including the free plan. You get generous limits to start, and pricing scales transparently if you need more.
Do I need to be an engineer to build with Buffer?
