Overview

When managing your referral program, its important to understand the difference between creating a new campaign and a new program. This guide explains each type and when to use them.

Program

A program consists of one or more campaigns targeted to a given audience for a given outcome.

Examples:

• Evergreen Refer a Friend program
• Employee Refer a Friend program
• Influencer program

When you log into My Extole, you'll see your programs listed on the Programs page, where each program has its own icon menu to view performance, edit campaigns, preview assets, or go live.

Campaign

A campaign is a specific implementation within a program that contains all the customizable elements of your customer experience. While a program defines the overall audience and outcome, campaigns are where you configure the actual creative elements, behavior, and rules. New campaigns are created when you want to test new copy, creatives or offers.

On thePrograms page or in the Campaign Dashboard, campaigns appear under their parent program and are edited in the Campaign Editor .

When to Create a New Program vs a New Campaign

Create a new campaign when:

• Making copy, creative, or reward changes to an existing evergreen program
• Running seasonal promotions
• Conducting A/B tests

• Offering a targeted promotion for a specific customer segment
