[Taboola Web Integrations]WordPress Plugin > Installation and usage
The Taboola WordPress Plugin provides a convenient way to integrate Taboola recommendations into your WordPress pages.
In order to get started, you'll need a Taboola account.
Don't have an account?Contact us to set up your account and Taboola units.
Need additional units?Reach out to your Taboola Account Manager or [email protected].
In your WordPress dashboard:
In the sidebar (left), select Plugins > Add Plugin.
In the search box provided (top, right) type in "Taboola":
As you type, the system automatically filters for matching plugins.
Locate the Taboola plugin and click on Install Now.
Once the installation has run, click on Activate.
In the sidebar (left), select Taboola, and follow the instructions below.
Taboola in the sidebar (left) to open your Taboola plugin settings.General settings, fill in your Taboola publisher_id, as provided by Taboola.Your Publisher ID is a unique, alphabetic String - e.g.
"USER.PUBLISHERID".
To apply your below-article unit:

- Fill in the below-article
mode, as provided by Taboola.
- Fill in the below-article
placement, as provided by Taboola.- The placement name displays in Taboola reporting.
- It can also be used to activate specialized layouts e.g. Taboola Feed.

Read Morebuttons can boost audience engagement significantly, especially on mobile devices. By shortening the viewable content, below-article units become more visible, encouraging interaction.
To enable Read More
- Select the checkbox provided to position the feed/widget just after the article.
- Apply changes - then browse to an article and verify that your below-article unit displays correctly.
- Contact the Taboola team to enable the
Read Moreuser experience.
To apply your mid-article unit:
Taboola in the sidebar (left) to open your Taboola plugin settings.
- Fill in the
mode, as provided by Taboola.- The
modedetermines the layout of your mid-article unit.
- Fill in the
placement, as provided by Taboola.- The placement name displays in Taboola reporting.
- It can optionally be used to activate specialized Taboola products and layouts.
- Fill in the paragraph number to target.
- E.g. to target the 5th paragraph, fill in
5.
Display Taboola recommendations on WordPress category archive pages.
Display Taboola Feed recommendations on your WordPress homepage.
The Taboola WordPress Plugin also supports a right-rail (aka sidebar) unit.
The right-rail unit is configured separately to the others.
See General Settings (above).
Appearance > Widgets in the sidebar (left).
- This opens the WordPress interface for inserting custom widgets.
- If the
Widgetsoption is not present, then it is not supported by your WordPress theme.
+ icon (top, left) and search for "Taboola".
If the
Taboola widgetis not present, make sure to fill in your Publisher ID (above).
Widget ID, as provided by Taboola.Update (top, right) to save your changes.
