Blood Lancer is a Build for Elden Ring. It is a Shadow of the Erdtree Arcane build for level 160+, built around Sword Lance and its skill Blood Tax.

Why Play the Blood Lancer Build in Elden Ring

This is a Shadow of the Erdtree build that takes place after level 160. A build that uses the Sord Lance to perform devastating heavy damage towards enemies.

The Bloody Lancer build utilizes one of the new weapons from the DLC, the Sword Lance, obtained by defeating Commander Gaius and exchanging his remembrance at the Round Table Hold. This weapon is technically a heavy thrusting sword, with R1 attacks similar to other heavy thrusting swords but R2 attacks that mimic the Lance weapon. Its running R2 attack is particularly notable, allowing multiple hits on enemies, closing the distance, and helping to duck under attacks, making it a versatile weapon for building up bleed and boosting attack power.

Great Rune choices include Morgott's Great Rune for maximum health, which synergizes with Blood Taxs healing, Malenia's Great Rune for health restoration upon attacking after taking damage, and Radahn's Great Rune for a balance of health, FP, and stamina.

Blood Lancer Build Requirements

To use everything in this build you need at least 21 Strength, 11 Dexterity. Anything above those numbers goes into damage and survivability rather than meeting requirements.

Weapon Type Requires Scaling Weight Skill Passive
Sword Lance Heavy Thrusting Sword Strength 21, Dexterity 11 STR C / DEX E 9.0 Impaling Thrust

Blood Lancer Build Stats and Attributes

Attribute-wise, this build features 55 Vigor for health and healing, 25 Mind for sufficient FP, and 35 Endurance for medium equip load and stamina. Strength and Arcane are balanced at 46 and 50, respectively, for optimal damage and blood loss buildup. Dexterity is kept at the minimum required for the weapon.

Blood Lancer Build Gear

The build focuses on the blood infusion for the Sword Lance, paired with the Blood Tax. Blood Tax enables rapid hits, building up attack power with talismans like Rotten Winged Sword Insignia and Thorny Cracked Tear. This setup facilitates quick blood loss buildup, healing the user with each hit. This is particularly effective when combined with the Bloodsucking Cracked Tear, which increases damage by 20% while gradually draining health. The healing from Blood Tax offsets the health drain, making it ideal for boss fights and landscape exploration.

The armor for this build is Commander Gaius's Set, providing over 51 poise to avoid interruption during Blood Tax. While the White Mask can be used for min-maxing to take advantage of the blood loss effect, this build focuses on cosplay. Leda's Armor is another option, enhancing dash attacks and synergizing well with the running R2 attack.

Talisman choices are crucial for maximizing this build's effectiveness. Shard of Alexander boosts the damage of Blood Tax, Lord of Blood's Exultation increases attack power by 20% upon blood loss, and Rotten Winged Sword Insignia boosts attack power with successive hits. The Two-Headed Turtle Talisman is recommended for stamina recovery during boss fights. For landscape exploration, Crusade Insignia is suggested for boosting attack power upon killing enemies.

When fighting on horseback, this build excels. The charged heavy attack hits enemies repeatedly, building up attack power and triggering blood loss. The Lance Talisman or Axe Talisman can be used to further boost damage while on horseback. The Two-Handed Sword Talisman can be used to boost regular attack damage but does not affect Blood Tax.

For enemies immune to bleed, alternative strategies include replacing Lord of Blood's Exultation with the Spear Talisman or switching to a poison infusion for the weapon, using Kindred of Rot's Exultation to boost damage upon poisoning enemies. Exalted Flesh is recommended for boosting physical damage during boss fights or critical moments.

The Bloodsucking Cracked Tear increases damage but drains health, while the Greenburst Crystal Tear aids in stamina recovery. The Thorny Cracked Tear and Winged Crystal Tear are also viable options for increasing damage and facilitating light rolling.
