Splitwise Card

If you already have a Splitwise Pay account, visit your Splitwise Wallet and tap Activate now.

If you have not yet created a Splitwise Pay account, you can follow the steps below to sign up. Please note that Splitwise Pay and the Splitwise Card are currently only available for U.S. residents. If you do not see the option to sign up for Splitwise Pay, please contact payments.help@splitwise.com to request access.

Signing up for Splitwise Pay:

1. In the app, tap the wallet icon in the upper left corner
2. Tap Enable Splitwise Pay
3. Provide the requested information and verify your phone number
4. Connect your bank account

After you activate a Splitwise Card, you can add it to your digital wallet and begin using it anywhere Mastercard is accepted. You can also request a physical card that will ship to your address in approximately 5-7 business days.

During activation, you can use your Splitwise Card and split as you go, or select auto-split. With split as you go, you can review purchases as you make them and quickly split them with any groups or friends on Splitwise. With auto-split, you can choose a default group or friendship to automatically split all purchases you make with the card. Split settings can be changed at any time through the card settings page.

When you make a purchase, the card automatically uses any funds available in your Splitwise Pay Wallet. We also recommend that you link a bank account and turn on automatic top ups. This way, if you do not have enough funds in your wallet to cover a purchase, the remaining balance will be covered by your bank account.

Yes! We recommend that you link an eligible bank account and turn on automatic top ups. This authorizes Splitwise Pay to automatically pull funds from your bank account for any purchases that are not covered by your existing Splitwise Wallet balance.

The Splitwise Card is available to US-based folks with active Splitwise Pay accounts. To learn more about Splitwise Pay, please see splitwise.com/pay.

The Splitwise Card has no monthly or annual maintenance fees, no activation or purchase fees, and no foreign transaction fees! Please see the full terms and conditions for more information, and check the terms of any linked bank accounts for fees other banks may charge.

Yes! Everyone who signs up for the Splitwise Card instantly gets access to a virtual card that can be used for online purchases or added to your digital wallet. If you would like a physical card as well, you can request one from your Splitwise app.

You can take the following steps to request a physical card:

1. In the app, tap the wallet icon in the upper left corner
2. Tap My Splitwise Card
3. Tap the gear icon to open your card setting
4. Tap "Request a physical card"

Please note that we will need to verify your mailing address in order to send you a card.

You can use your Splitwise Card anywhere Mastercard is accepted, including most international destinations. Splitwise Pay does not charge any additional foreign transaction fees.

The Splitwise Card cannot be used at any ATMs or for withdrawals at a bank or financial institution.

Splitwise Pay and the Splitwise Card are subject to spending, usage and discretionary limits for security and fraud protection. Please view the terms and conditions for further information.

If you purchase something with your Splitwise Card and later return it, these funds will be returned to your Splitwise Pay Wallet balance. Please note that return timelines may vary based on merchant and bank policies and often take several weeks to fully complete.

If your card is lost or stolen, you should navigate to your card settings in the Splitwise app to lock the card as soon as possible. If you have any issues with your card, please reach out to cardsupport@splitwise.com for additional help. Be sure to include any relevant details about the issue you are facing so that we can respond promptly.
