Serious crawler and server overload problems with the free version I have used the free version of this plugin for approx 1218 months and until recently it did what I needed. The free plugin creates an almost unlimited number of filter URL combinations and due to the increase in AI and automated web crawlers, once crawlers discover the filter URLs they absolutely hammer the site causing server overload / 508 errors and generally makes the website unusable. I have spent the last 34 weeks trying to control this through Cloudflare security and rate limiting rules while still allowing legitimate search engines and real customers to use the filters normally. It has not been easy as blocking the filter URL patterns also interferes with genuine customers using multiple filter options. Blocking bots also interferes with legitimate Google indexing damaging SEO. For anyone that doesnt maintain their own site it could become VERY costly to get a developer to fix the damage the free plugin seems to be causing due to the filter URLs. The worst part is that removing the plugin does not solve the problem. Once crawlers have discovered the URLs, they just dont stop! The plugin itself was quite good until this issue started. In its current form I would not recommend the free version unless the developer provides an effective way to prevent crawlers from discovering and repeatedly crawling these filter combinations without breaking the filters for genuine visitors. For me, this has resulted in weeks of unnecessary work, server overload, a website that only works about 30% of the time due to 508 errors and problems with legitimate crawling of the site. This is all directly caused by the free plugin, although the developer does offer a “solution” if you pay for the pro version. Personally I think the free version should have the fix aswell as the way it is now is no good for anyone. If a fix is provided then the plugin is generally good for filtering. Without the fix it creates more problems than it solves. There has also been some other posts in the support forum reporting the same issues.

We worked with the plugin in free version in a previous website and went smooth, we wanted to go further in a new website and got PRO version. We got some trouble at the start but support made a quick patch and solved our doubts quickly. Great team!

As an animal welfare organization from Germany, we highly recommend “Filter Everything”! The plugin works absolutely flawlessly, is incredibly lightweight, and doesn’t slow down our site at all. What impressed us even more was the support: they are super friendly, reply incredibly fast, and react to any questions without delay. I honestly don’t understand the 1-star reviews for the free version. Its meant to be a test version to check out the product. Thats exactly what I did, and since it is so well-structured and easy to use, I naturally bought the Pro version to support and reward the developers for their hard work. Thank you for this great tool!

Changelog

1.9.5

Release Date – 5 August 2026
* Fix – Fixed the search box inside a filter returning no results when the filter’s terms are shown as color swatches or when filter links are hidden from search engine crawlers
* Fix – Fixed numeric range filters (e.g. price) keeping outdated minimum and maximum values for several hours after a product was edited: the cached filter data is now reset correctly on every product save
* Fix – Fixed hierarchical filters with the See more option rendering with all terms hidden until the plugin’s JavaScript runs: on sites where scripts are delayed or minified by page-speed plugins (e.g. WP Rocket) such filters could stay empty for logged-out visitors, while logged-in users saw them correctly
* Fix – Fixed the Load More button of the Elementor Loop Grid widget appending unfiltered products on a filtered page: the widget’s next-page address (?e-page-) now keeps the applied filters, and the second and further pages no longer get a malformed address with two ? characters
* Fix – Fixed all filters disappearing from the Shop page and other product archive pages after updating to WooCommerce 11.0: WooCommerce now reports the shop page itself instead of the products archive there, and the plugin no longer recognized the page as a filterable products list

1.9.4

Release Date – 20 July 2026
* Fix – Fixed a fatal error (“Cannot redeclare modify_specific_module()”) that broke the site front end right after plugin activation on Divi websites that use a Theme Builder header layout

1.9.3

Release Date – 14 July 2026
* Dev – NEW: Added native Filters, Chips and Sorting widgets for Beaver Builder, Bricks, Breakdance, Divi and the block editor (Gutenberg)
* Dev – NEW: Added the Results container option with a visual picker: choose exactly which part of the page AJAX refreshes enter a CSS selector manually or click Select visually and simply click the posts area right on your site
* Dev – The minimum required PHP version is now 7.4
* Tweak – Filter Sets with a very large number of filters (100+) can now be saved reliably: the editing form submits only the fields that were actually changed, so the request no longer hits the server’s post_max_size limit
* Fix – Buttons inside the filtering area keep working after an AJAX results update (previously they could lose their click handlers when the content was refreshed)
* Fix – Fixed a fatal error “Call to a member function setExcludedTerms() on false” that could break pages with filters when a filter referenced a parent filter that no longer exists in the Filter Set or does not apply to its post type
